Ben Ali is a purpose driven entrepreneur,
author, and transformational speaker whose life’s work sits at the intersection of legacy, leadership, and love for community. As the second generation steward of Ben’s Chili Bowl, the iconic Washington DC institution founded by his parents, Ben has spent over 40 years growing a business that has not only fed millions but also nourished the soul of a city. Through moments of triumph and turmoil, from the civil rights era to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ben’s leadership has reflected resilience, compassion, and a deep rooted belief in the power of service.
Beyond the restaurant’s storied history, Ben’s greater mission has always been to uplift others, especially Black men and boys. As the founder of the Ben’s Chili Bowl Foundation, he has helped provide mentorship, educational support, and over 10,000 meals to those in need, while partnering with institutions like the Lincoln Theatre Foundation, Georgetown Day School, and 100 Fathers.
Now, with the release of his new book, ASCEND: The Black Man’s Guide to Elevation, Success, and Purpose, Ben is expanding his impact from the block to the national stage. ASCEND is more than a book, it is a movement calling Black men to release generational burdens, reclaim their purpose, and rise with purpose, power, and peace. Through keynotes, community gatherings, and the ASCEND virtual community, Ben is committed to helping a generation rise into their rightful role as builders, fathers, leaders, and legacy makers.
A John Maxwell Certified Coach and lifelong student of faith, Ben Ali leads with humility, humanity, and hope. Whether he is stirring chili, mentoring young men, or speaking to thousands, his message is simple and transformative: live fully, love deeply, serve boldly and help others do the same.
